Levitation is the second ‘Whim’ single from Yetts o’ Muckhart raised drummer / songwriter Liam Chapman. This track possesses qualities of a smooth focus-laden ‘70s ballad in the realms of The Carpenters and Christopher Cross. With its slow gliding groove, mallow squashing bass and Wurlitzer grandly quivering and glimmering in the bubbles, the hushed vocals purr with short pronunciation, teasing the fun of a Beegees delivery.
The lyrics lament the analysis paralysis barriers faced when longing to live in a different location, where both beauty and frustration cloud reasoning. There are magnets pushing and pulling between loyalty, community, climate, complacency and staleness, fear and physical objects.
“…I imagined this human shaped hot air balloon trying to levitate away and explore pastures new while the weighted ballasts are being thrown in to the basket from all angles to prevent it taking off”.
Levitation will be released on 26 May, 2023 and is taken from Whim’s forthcoming album, Super Impose, release date TBA.

Why don't you ever seem to leave,
won't you even try?
Well the time it takes to start again,
realise this whole time it was just a myth.
Would you remember my face,
from the the glory of the old days?
We could do the things we used to do.
Could you just stay the same for when I get back?
Night time,
when I get up in mourning.
Fourteen,
is the age I was when I first noticed this.
Meltdown,
get me down from the hook, right now.
Let down,
never gonna see your face again.
Should never turn back on Levitation.
Is it just a geographical crush?
Let the climate climb at your heels,
till that rare glow shines again.
Actualise, there's potentially more potential.
Right time
Bags packed
Meltdown
Let down
Never gonna see your face again.
Should never turn back...
Right time
Would I get up in mourning?
Fourteen,
is the age I was when I first noticed this.
Meltdown,
get me down from the hook, right now.
Let down,
never gonna see this place again.
Should never turn back on Levitation...
